CBSE instruction emphasizes on all-encompassing education

Mr. UC Bodh, the deputy secretary of CBSE, warns school in his written letter that they are responsible for the textbook being considered. The Indian schools as per Affiliation Bylaw Rule 15.1 (d) can use textbooks of their private publisher for following the syllabus.

Professor arrested for blogging against Manipal university
New Education Review, 21 May 2013

The lecturer, who taught in Dubai campus of Manipal University and finished his term at the private university a year ago, had his contract terminated without reason. Dubai courts acted in his favour and he received his end-of-service- benefits, said police.

MHRD dissolves Distance Education Council; UGC to frame guidelines

Maharashtra universities to implement Choice Based Credit System

All the universities in the Maharashtra will now follow Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) at the Under Graduate (UG) and Post Graduate (PG) levels from upcoming academic session. A high powered committee of Vice Chancellors has recommended following a directive from the University Grants Commission (UGC).

Delhi University names colleges offering BMS

Delhi University has finally come clear on the colleges that will offer the Bachelor’s with honours course in management studies. In all, six colleges — Shaheed Sukhdev College of Business Studies, College of Vocational Studies, Keshav Mahavidyalaya, Maharaja Agrasen College, Bhim Rao Ambedkar College and Deen Dayal Upadhyay College — will offer the course.

The confusion over Delhi University’s decision, spearheaded by its vice-chancellor, to replace the existing three-year graduation course with a four-year programme gets compounded as the admissions process for the new academic year begins. Aside from the merits and demerits of such a seminal change, students are being forced to consider the ‘benefits’ of spending an extra year, delaying their entry into employment, for the very same degree that they can get in any other university.

Rotten Education System in India

Kanji, a 10 year old child, who stays in a remote village in Gujarat, daily, go to school which is situated near main temple of Lord Shiva. When asked him about simple mathematical summation or multiplication of two numbers, he was not able to even read that problem statement properly. He was even lacking basic writing and reading skills in English. He is not the only dull student in that village; actually 80% of the students of that village are actually remaining uneducated.
This is not the only case in that village but in fact almost every other village in India has poor education system. Click here to read more
